György Gáti | My Virtual Reality

opening

Magic has been deprived from this world – sings Tamás Cseh -, and indeed, perhaps we are surrounded by too many pictures and visual information. We all are constantly observing, and being observed, a camera is always in our hands, as if all acts in our lives mattered. In fact, this is just life. If we recorded every moment, there would be nothing left to remain admirable or worthy of mention.

György Gáti, however, is not such an “image manufacturer”, photo books are not being produced annually in his lustrous office. Gáti waits, prepares, then goes through a long selection and arrangement process. His pictures are not made in sequences, but in their own unpredictable rhythms. As if, his photos would have fix birth dates, and they were meant to born at the given time and circumstances predestined; Deus ex machina, not a question of choice.
